First off, happy new year!! Hope you all had a wonderful and safe time ringing in the new year. Last night, I rang in the new year with some of my softball buddies which was very lovely and just really chill. We spent our time watching a few things on tv before watching the ball drop but before that, we were watching a special feature on Much Music: Electric Circus. If you’re not from Canada, then you wouldn’t know what that show is. Anyway, it’s just a live dance show which is I guess you could say that’s just like Soul Train. But rather, there isn’t really so much “soul”. By that that I mean, they don’t really play much soul music, but they play a lot of dance, trance, pop, hip hop and some R&B here and there. But it’s really mostly dance music.
They used to air the show every Friday, live, and would show a repeat of it the following afternoon. So really, if you have nothing else to do or watch, that was the-it show. Last night’s special airing was quite interesting. They also showed some throwbacks of past live performances of artists or groups such as N’Sync, Britney Spears, Diddy, Pink, etc. But during the show itself, they played “today’s” music. We were of course wishing or were saying that they should’ve played some old music from when they regularly aired the show (was taken off the air in 2003), but hey, it was still pretty cool that they had today’s music on there with the live twitter feeds and even the original video of the song on the screen while you watched live dancers.
Towards the end of our night, we were watching Much More Music and this series focus more on retro music. We of course, stopped what we were all doing as soon as we heard Deee-Lite‘s one-hit wonder, Groove Is In The Heart. Who DOESN’T love that song?!
